Two years ago Awards for All provided money for a 405, of the six people who have used it for advanced training three have gone onto National Youth Squads Last year Awards for All provided money for an Access Disabled use dinghy which has kick started Sailability. We are now raising money for a second Access Dinghy. 2002: Notts County Sailing Club has been grant aided just under £5,000 to purchase Junior windsurfing boards and sails, from the National Lottery's Awards for All programme. Team 15 Coordinator and windsurfing instructor David Eberlin said: "This is a great opportunity for youngsters at Notts County. We had to cut back our activities in 2002 due to lack of suitable equipment, the new boards and sails will allow our activities to grow giving many more youngsters the chance to learn and develop their potential in windsurfing, through the national Team 15 initative. Windsurfing is a great sport, and surprisingly easy to learn on new lighter weight equipment, and youngsters pick up technique very quickly on the correct equipment. Windsurfing, like sailing, gives youngsters independence and really does provide a sport for life. One of our key Team 15 instructors is a pensioner, and we have couple of four year olds taking their first steps on board so you are never to young or old." The Awards for All money will be used to purchase nine windsurfers with vary rig sizes to cater for different levels of development, size and skill. The Boads & Sails are due to arrive March 2003. ![]() | ![]() |
