Notts County sailor Nigel Potter finished forth in the National Enterprise masters event held at notts County Sailing Club .

The light and shifty winds made the race officer's job difficult these conditions were to prevail throughout the weekend making both course setting and competing difficult and frustrating for the 10 home boats and 34 visitors.

The first race saw close racing as the wind continued to hold. First at the windward mark was Nigel Bird/Katie Dolling (Littleton S.C.) closely followed by Howard Frear/Celia Frear (Frampton on Severn S.C.), Phil Snewin/John Blundell (Chester S. & CC) and Tony Woods/Chris Blundell (Leigh & Lowton S.C.) Bird took the left side of the course on the reach which paid for the first two laps but on the final lap, Woods/Blundell took the lead to finish first just in front. Bird/Dolling were second some distance from Frear/Frear, Barry Moss/Julie Moore (Shustoke S.C.) and Pete and Alicia Bennett.

Race 2 was to be the best wind of the weekend with close racing throughout the shorter triangular course. Nigel and Matthew Potter (Notts County S.C.) lead at the first mark chased by Flor O'Driscoll/Pete Rowley (Bray S.C.) and Woods/Blundell. The Potter crew held their lead to the finish, the Woods/Blundell team moved up to second and the Bennets secured third place followed by Pete Jackson/John Dyas (British Airways S.C.) and O'Driscoll/Rowley in fifth. The first race on Sunday was again postponed due to lack of wind! However, eventually sufficient arrived and race 3 was started in a reasonably steady light wind with this time Louis Moulden/Simon Evans (Delph S.C.) first at the mark followed by the Bennets, Nick Miller/Innis Wilkinson (Winsford Flash) and Bird/Dolling.

A close contest ensued in the leading group, the Moulder/Evans team managing to hold on to first place until the end, second going to the Bennets, Miller/Wilkinson third, Bird fourth, the Potters fifth and Tony Woods sixth. Much place changing took place further down the fleet as boats were either blessed or otherwise with what wind there was.

Again, what was to be the final race was postponed and an early lunch was taken as the wind direction continued to change through 360'. In a last effort, race 4 was started cleanly in very light winds with Bird managing to find the front of the shortened course closely followed by Barry Moss/Julie Moore in second, Mike Cossey/Christine Barron (Tamworth S.C.) third, Paul and Sharon Plested (Winsford Flash S.C.) fourth and the Potters in fifth.

Final Results- 1st Nigel Bird/Katie Dolling (Littleton S.C.) 2nd Tony Woods/Chris Blundell (Leigh & Lowton S.C.) 3rd Pete Bennet/Alicia Bennet (British Airways S.C.) 4th Nigel Potter/ Matthew Potter (Notts. County S.C.) 5th Barry Moss/Julie Moore (Shustoke S.C.)
