A blustery and showery July day, a bit like most English summer days, did not hold back any of the great spirits that abounded at the Notts County Summer party on July 5th. The clubhouse venue took on a rare glamour as the social committee plus helpers set to with balloons, flowers and décor suitable for the event.

The 80 or so extremely well dressed partygoers were greeted with a glass of bubbly - pink or white to suit - and canapés as they came through the door. The chatter volumes increased, the ever hard working bar staff really got moving and the juniors took possession of the tables nearest the food. The Vice Commodore, John, gave some words of thanks and the party moved on to the buffet dinner.

Pauline had worked hard all day to produce a special buffet with something to suit all tastes. Needless to say, the merry throng took substantially less time to reduce it to a pile of empty platters after the seconds, thirds, forths, nths… returns from contented diners.

A high quality and substantial band were placed on the balcquee and they struck up some great tunes as dancing was had by some as the evening passed. All too soon the band needed paying, the partygoers returned back to their homes, or tents, or caravans and a small gathering held sway at the bar to judge another successful and entertaining social evening down at the club.

Great thanks, as ever, to Pauline and Colin for the food, Colin and Ray for the bar and to Philippa, and the rest of the social committee helpers, for another great, well organised event. [Photos credits to J Logan ]
