Spring Bank Holiday 09
The Spring Bank Holiday Regatta was again a great success, John & Kim spent many an hour organising, and lots of people helped during the Regatta. There were about sixty boats on the lake for Saturdays racing which consisted of Class Races, the Commodore's Cup, junior racing and the like.
It all starts with a BBQ on Friday night, as everyone sets up and has a good natter. Then Saturday saw the racing, with sunny intervals and a light very occasionally moderate wind. Scorpions and RS 400s all had some close racing. The evening saw a band, and BBQ cooked by club members.
Sunday dawned sunny, with clear blue skies, it was already warm by am but wind.... well it had gone. There was a ladies drifting race, a few casual sailors and finally a rather short Junior race, but the wind when it did appear as a zephyr like gust swung wildly, so many just soaked up the sun, read the Sunday papers and enjoyed the atmosphere. The evening saw Pauline's curry and chicken supreme, followed by a magician.
Monday saw overcast, but better conditions with a light breeze allowed four races to take place, with prize giving in the clubhouse later in he afternoon.
Photos if you wish to have the original e mail the site with the number and we can hopefully oblige (otherwise they can be printed) Thanks to David Eberlin, Simon McEvoy and Steve/Viv Payne for photos.
