University of third age
Another great achievement by the club by providing something for the community.
West Bridgford U3A (university of the third age,retired people) applied through Peter King, club member of the club training school to bring back memories of something they would have liked to have achieved years ago or update something they tried in their youth the Sport of Sailing.
The club committee allowed the group to start in 2008 on Thursday mornings once a month,come rain,high winds,and of course sunshine the group attended an enjoyed the introduction to sailing in cobles.
For 2009 season they progressed and seven members have reached the R.Y.A. level one certificate, which were presented by the club Principal Will Stanton on the last day !st October and invited the group back for 2010 and hoped they would progress to level two.
West Bridgford U3A were thrilled to receive their certificates and were very happy to accept the challenge and go for level two in 2010.
Many thanks to the club members and "The Last of the Summer Wine"(this group was formed by retired members for retired members,who meet every Thursday throughout the year and carry out maintainace for the club boats etc.And for proving the instructors John Chambers,John Day,and Peter King the course senior instructor.
