Access Open 14th April 2010
Wednesday 14th April saw the Access Open at Notts County Sailing Club, Hoveringham with another good turnout with representations from all around the country and as usual Farnham and Rutland with strong contingents. It was obvious from the level of competitve sailing many were practicing in earnest for the forthcoming Access World Championships to be held later this year in the UK. On the showing of some boats we should be looking forward to medal positions.
It was fine day, a bit cool and a stiff breeze from the north west making difficult launching but with the able assistance of volunteers and helpers all compitors were launched without mishap and made the start.
Two back to back races before lunch followed by two more afterwards tested the mettle of competitors and their boats and everyone looked like they needed a warming cup of tea or something stronger prior to the prize giving hosted by the President of NCSC Russ Towns.
Thanks go out to the rescue crews, race organisers, helpers who gave up their time and those carers who ensured all the competitors could take part. It was a great team effort, and involved many from Notts County including Ian Firth who spent many an hour organising the event.
As a footnote, one competitor could not take part owing to a delay in getting their boat back from repair, NCSC has two Access boats that were not used this year in the racing so if your stuck it's worth giving us a ring as we may be able to accommodate and facilitate racing.
NCSC look forward to seeing you all back next year.
