An impressive 22 Solos arrived at the Solo Open at Notts County SC on a wet day, with light winds. It wasn’t even that warm (compared to the previous few days) however racing was tight, and there were a lot of visitors, thanks to the Solo fleet going out and joining other open meetings.
Nadina Lincoln, the race officer had the unenviable task of setting course in a constantly shifting wind, one moment it was North easterly, then westerly, then back between.
Simon Maskell from Hunts SC won with two first, but his discard was a 7th, with Nigel Davies from Draycote second overall and Oli wells from Northampton third. Stephanie Gunn was forth overall and first lady, well only lady actually.
The first race in lightish winds saw Simon Maskell win with IOli wells second and Steve Thomas third. The second race held back to back in rain but a little more wind saw Nigel Davies win with Bob Suggest second and Stephanie Gunn third. So it really was anyones meeting in the final race, which saw Simon Maskell win with old wells second and Nigel Davies third.
Adrain Jones, Vice Commodore of Notts County presented the prizes, thanking all the visitors for coming, lets hope www see everyone back for next year.
