Amongst the Saturday Club, beginners course on 16th June we had the windsurf open. The club was its usual busy self with Pauline managing to cope well.
The Windsurf Open run with Seavets attracted 20 entries, including 5 juniors on Technos. The wind was kind with a good force 3 to 4 most of the day so John Parr’s reaching course was ideal with some exciting reaches and a good beat. There were 7 visitors from all over the north of the country.
The Unlimited fleet saw Guy Sprekley from Notts County & Tim Colles from Bartley battle it out, the results don’t show how close it was with Guy getting three firsts. Ian Pilkington was third and Oliver Bednell forth. The 7.5 fleet saw half the entries, the oldest sailor being Russ Towns who came firth. The head of the fleet however saw some excellent close racing between Mike Playle from Hollowell and Mick Steer from Carsington, Mike prevailed. Tony Goodwin was third and Derick Hall forth.
In the Juniors Duncan Monaghan had it all his own way with a string of firsts, his brother Linus was second and Charlotte Taylor third, Nieve Bear forth and Molly Sprekley firth.
After the prize giving there was a roast dinner cooked by Pauline, with a pint or two consumed by many of those present.
