FestiSail Bank Holiday Monday 6th May 2019
We are offering our first festival of sailing for all our junior club members on the Bank Holiday Monday 6th May. The day, running from 10am until 16.00, will be offering sailing activities on and off the water for any junior club members and their family. Our aim is to provide activities on and off the water, chance to try different boats, whether that be club boats (Stratos, Feva, Topaz, Topper), opportunity to sail and make new friends, find out about sailing options either at the club, locally or nationally. Not sure about any aspect of junior sailing, come along and speak to other parents about the sailing network. Ideal for families new to the club or Saturday club families or those dipping their toes into the racing circuit.
Topper International are supporting the event and we will have the maintenance team to provide advice and repairs along with their 6 Topper boat trailer for use and information about their ‘Reactivate’ scheme which brings back to life those old and tired Toppers in the boat park.
RYA Midland development team are providing their Topper training boats and we will have the RYA National 420 coach Tim Rush along with a boat to try. The 420 is a Youth transition Olympic pathway boat. http://www.420sailing.org/content/introduction-to-the-420
Many people might know Tim as he is a past member and a past World Champion winner in a Fireball.
We are also trying to secure a 29er demo boat, another youth transition boat. https://www.29er.org.uk
Why not make a weekend of it, there’s the 1st Saturday Club, Sunday racing and you are welcome to camp over. We will fire up the BBQ for Sunday night.
We are looking for volunteers to man the safety boats, help with running of the event and generally helping out. It’s a club event for club members offered by club members. Please contact Kathryn Hinsliff-Smith is you can help out, Kathryn
So put the date in your diary, find the sailing gear, pack a picnic and camping gear and one along.
