17th Sept 2017
We are taking part in Parts Bash this year. This is an opportunity for all to get on the water, not just the experts on a Sunday. We are particularly keen to get Saturday and Tuesday night racers to join in, along with families, and make this a club wide day of sailing.
The morning race 11:00 will be a general handicap with windsurf, fast, slow, junior and novice starts.
The afternoon 14:00 approx. will be the return of last year’s individual handicap pursuit race with handicaps derived from the morning race.
Karen Ferrar is organising the highly successful return of cakes by the lake – all contributions welcome.
The event is to raise money for the Andrew Simpson Foundation so in lieu of entry fees donations are welcome either via the club or the Bart’s Bash website – Notts County has a venue page.
In addition we are looking for volunteers to help run the event on the water – if you are free and can help please feel free to volunteer via sailing club manager
The night before (Sat 16th Sept) is a social with a Quiz Night (led by John Rowell) and camping.
Bart’s Bash is when the world goes sailing… together
- A global sailing race taking place at 100s of venues, with 1000s of sailors in 100s of different classes of boat around the world
- Bart’s Bash gives the sailing community a united opportunity to remember Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, a double Olympic medallist who tragically lost his life whilst training for the America’s Cup in 2013.
- The event was founded in 2014 and verified by Guinness World Records as ‘The Largest Sailing Race in the World’. This is report from our event, part of that record
