Windsurfing
Wednesday nights topics (15/5/10)
The club has an active windsurfing fleet, is an RYA recognised Teaching establishment up to advanced.
Wednesday nights sees Team 15 and for this year we are going to try over 15 coaching as well. The Under 15s will follow the Team freestyle and racing training, and this has seen two members in the zone squad for 2009. The youngsters will have the priority on the technos and associated rigs, which can be used on a Wednesday free of charge. The over 15s may well have thier own kit, or alternativly the hiflys etc will be avialable. When he wind is planing weather the instructors reserve the right to go and play!! The new tandem will also be available both for training and some fun.
It is intended to have a round the cans event at about 6.30-7pm which is meant to be a non serious competition. Supper will be served after 8pm generally not before, please let Pauline know if you are eating.
On Sundays there is a core group racing on raceboards and they welcome newcomers, and will help with kit, tuition and encouragement, so don't be shy, you can always practise on Wednesday.
We also have a large cruising element, who will normally be down anytime there is wind, March to Sept, not sure where they get the time off from ... you can therfore be fairly sure on someone else being down in windy conditions.
Speed ladder: Last year saw the start of a speed ladder, won by the website editor, there are two gps in waterproof aquapacs, for a £10 fee you can join the ladder. We need to decide if this is an annual fee to pay for some prizes or just a joining fee to pay for the units, more news soon.
Jim Collis is in Nottingham for two days in May, at our club 16th May, and Trent on 17th we have a reciprical agreement, and it will be limited to 20 a day on a first come first served basis (cost £20 probably per day), for one of the top trainers in the country this is a bargin, most who went last year can't wait for this year.
