| NCSC Junior Development Squad report from James - link to Tim's report & photos The Junior Development Squad training over six Tuesdays and Saturdays finished with the NCSC Junior Open on 21st June. This new venture into training has been a great success with both trainees and coaches seeming to get a lot of enjoyment, and benefit, from the dedicated race training. A keen core group of 10 to 12 juniors in a variety of boats have been enthusiastically turning up and taking great interest in the training being delivered on the water and on-shore. Great credit goes to the coaches who generously gave up time and energy to both prepare for, and deliver, the training. Tim Cripps led the Tuesday evenings (link to Tim's resume) and Alison Goodall the Saturdays. Not forgetting, of course, the other coaches from the club who helped out - George Stanton and Richard Mason amongst others. Such has been the attraction that the Tuesday evening race start line now resembles a very busy menagerie fleet on nice Sunday afternoon with up to 40 boats jostling on the start line, all keenly aware of the need to be at the front of the grid and at the right end of the line…beware the rest of us when this lot move up into the main fleet sailing! It was made clear in the Junior Open that great progress has been made across the range of talents that make up Notts County's junior sailors and we look forward to taking the format forward - all thoughts and ideas on how to make it even better gladly received. Keep on sailing - and having fun! James (co-ordinator) To register your interest please contact James Logan at logan.notts@btinternet.com or tel 01509 889193 links

Notts
County Sailing Club - Junior Development Squad Junior Training:
MISSION
With the short time before having to be on the water for the Tues evening race Tim and Richard have been giving on-shore talks before the race, coaching from the RIB during, and a debrief afterwards. The longer session on the Saturday with Alison and George will allow time on the water (assuming some wind blows, as it didn't on the first, gloriously hot, Saturday). It would be great to have as many juniors as possible putting their skills into practice - and time on the water is what it is all about - and the Sunday 3rd race (start around 3pm) would be good as the congestion on the water is much less and with a few juniors signed up you should get a separate start. Also, please take part as much as possible during the regatta w/e coming up - lots of prizes to go for. Have fun! James | |
