Sailing Instructions

With the exception of pursuit races all handicap races are average lap races. Windsurfers may compete with dinghies in handicap races under an agreed handicap number but must not pump.

Members attending Open Meetings may apply for up to 4 qualifying points in order to qualify for the class series. (for qualifying points to awarded a qualifying class race must have been sailed at Notts County) Qualifying points must be claimed before the end of the series in person or by post to the Results Secretary.

Definition of Junior/Youth Sailor

Club Racing.
Junior
Under 16 on 31st December 10.
Youth,
Under 19 on 31st December 10.
Junior Open
Under 19 on date of event.

In addition to the above, there is racing for The Junior Challenge Trophy, which is awarded to the highest placed entrant under 13 on 31st December 2010 sailing a Topper or slower in the Saturday Afternoon Series.

To qualify for any junior trophy no person over the specified age may helm or crew in the boat.

Boats with a PYN higher than a Solo should start on the Junior/Youth start. However if it appears that there will only be one craft in that start, these boats should start with the Menagerie fleet. Your result will be extracted from the Menagerie and average of previous results will be awarded.

Boats with class status must start on their allotted start and may only race with the Menagerie fleet if they are the only boat of their class sailing.

When fleets are split into Fast and Slow Handicap races; The Fast Handicap will consist of Scorpions and faster boats, plus the Finn. All other boats will sail in the Slow Handicap except boats sailed by juniors or youths which may sail in the separate junior/youth start.

All Handicap races should contain all points of sailing for the PYN handicap system to work.

Unless specified to the contrary, in each series, a third of sailable races plus 1 will count towards the series score. Available races are those which the Race Officer deemed sailable based on the wind conditions; absence of starters does not constitute an unsailable race. ( The number of races to count will be rounded up if necessary.
