The Saturday youth racing and Saturday adult racing starts from 12th Sept to end of October. This does of course depend on volunteers coming forward for duty cover. As with all activity at the club Covid rules should be followed.
The junior Cracking Conker Series will run till end of October, starting at 1415 with two back to back races. (30-40 mins), no landing between races unless retiring. There will also be an adult series starting soon after Details will be on the race notice board under the clubhouse. The idea is parents/ youngsters will run the racing and volunteer for safety and Race Officer duty, youngsters are particularly encouraged to learn about being a race officer with guidance from Richard Mason (please ask).
Anyone wishing to race in the series needs to enter each boat once on the Friday before ideally but in any case on the day before you race by using the email firstname.lastname@example.org stating series (Sat) helm/crew, name, boat/windsurfer, and sail number, juniors are to be entered by parent/guardian and indicated as a junior. This only needs to happen once in series.
12th sept 2020: The sun shone, and the wind blew, and no less than 20 Toppers entered the first of Cracking Conker series of races – amazing! It was also great to see so many sailors in the handicap fleet, a combination of Lasers and Aeros with an RS 400 and 29er setting a ‘cracking’ pace at the front. The conditions were perfect, and the racing competitive, and sometimes challenging, especially with so many Toppers arriving at the leeward mark at the same time! I hope everyone enjoyed it, and as many as possible will be back on the water next Saturday. Thank you to everyone who helped, and especially to Phil Dyne (Race Officer) and Sarah Mason, who successfully kept tabs on all of the sailors, and to Ben and Richard Paling who entered the results into Sailwave.
