The club has superb facilities, with a large clubhouse overlooking the lake, hot showers, catering and a bar. Location
The water itself consists of two lakes and large lake of around 180 acres, where the main activity takes place. This is open to the majority of wind directions, a south easterly is the only direction it is not open to the Trent Valley. The clear wind is a huge asset, and provides great conditions for all the club members.
The clubhouse was partially Sports Lottery funded with the original clubhouse being built by club members. An extension was added to provide extended ladies changing and a Training Room in 2016/7, partially funded by Sport England Inspired Facilities.
Our smaller ‘training’ lake is ideal for first steps, being about 20 acres, the shore is never far away.
We have a large boat slipway and two other slipways for dinghies, plus large areas of grass, ideal for rigging up on.
The clubroom can seat 50 and up to 70 with the conservatory, and is ideal for socials, or chilling out after sailing or racing.
Security is up to members
Keys are available to members. First in & last out are responsible for unlocking & locking the clubhouse, conservatory and the gates. The last person out must also check that all equipment is put away securely and everything is locked up before they leave. Non-members sometimes access the club grounds (we do not object to this as it aids security), walking through or birdwatching for example, if you are not sure whether or not you are the last member on site– please still lock it all up anyway! (obviously checking those down have keys if possible – if not ask then politely to move their car or be locked in)
Needless to say you should keep a set of keys in the car when you come down, and extra sets are available to purchase. The clubhouse has a numeric lock on the rear door, the code is on your rejoining letter.
