Pauline retiring, the end or an era
Pauline has decided to retire, and finished on 1st September 2024.
Ken Twenlow our commodore wrote this: Pauline has been providing food at the club for the whole of the time I have been a member.
Pauline’s enthusiasm and dedication has been boundless. During the search for a new caterer one of the things which we have had to try to portray is the wide range and timing of all of the activities we run. Pauline has always been there when we needed her.
Like many families my children grew up with Pauline’s food. I fondly remember the days when I picked them up off the bus in Thurgarton, on a Thursday evening and we then went to order ham and eggs before racing. More recently it is our dog Mostyn who seems to view Pauline with the most affection. He even recognises her car. When he knows that Pauline is at the club he knows there will be a sausage !
Pauline has treated all, but especially the children and all our four legged friends with great kindness over the years. We all wish Pauline a long and happy retirement.
The Executive Committee has agreed that Pauline, together with Colin and Keith, should enjoy complementary Social Membership so we all hope we will see them back at the club whenever they wish.
The lunchtime handover included a Magnolia bush, and additional cash from the collection along with Champagne and sun lotion for a holiday. The donations have also purchased a rattan furniture set with cushions and covers to allow Pauline and Colin to enjoy their garden.
Plenty of friends old and more recent came to the presentation and to personally thank Pauline & team for their food and contribution. There were quite a few good wishes from non members who have visited the club on Facebook.
The first photo is of Mandy & Rosie presenting Pauline with the Tuesday night surplus.
