Discover sailing – Public Open day

28th Aug 21 – 10 to 4pm

Sail – Windsurf – SUP – Swim

The Notts County Open Day, part of the RYA Discover Sailing Initiative and is a great opportunity to try sailing at a local club for free. We have members from Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire & Leicestershire and are 12 miles East of Nottingham. (how to get to us)

The event is free, all you need to do is come along on the day, register and borrow a buoyancy aid from us. Please bring shoes that can get wet, a waterproof top if the weather is poor, and lots of suncream if its good weather !

We will have plenty of people on hand to talk about sailing, how to start and any other questions you have on the sport.

We will be taking photos on the day which may be used nationally – please let us know if you do not wish to appear.

If you wish to experience Windsurfing please bring your own wetsuit, and if conditions allow we will try and get you out.

We hope to have some Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) for people to try and ‘have-a-go’. Over the past year SUPs have proved to be a popular and this will give members and non-members the chance to see if this is a water activity they might like to pursue. If you have a wet suit please bring your own in case of a possible dunking. Also a change of clothes is highly recommended. for more information on our club group see https://ncsc.org.uk/wesup-group/

There will be an information point for the Open Water Swimming Group “Love Open Water

Try Paddle- boarding should be available.

There will be food available, and plenty of people to ask about the sailing.

You can also watch some racing and training including Saturday Club and of course we will have information to take away.

We are also holding a cake sale with proceeds to charity , please bring  cake if you can (it doesn’t need to be homemade) and of course buy plenty of cake to raise money.

Hope you can make it and maybe you will get bitten like the family below (that have just brought another boat!) – be warned sailing  can be addictive and a sport for the family and for life.
